The Collins Law Firm, P.C.
As an accomplished litigation attorney, Dan Fabbri brings his diverse business and financial experience to bear
advocating on behalf of a diverse array of clients. Dan’s wide-ranging legal practice includes successful verdicts and
settlements in numerous civil litigation matters, including: commercial litigation (such as tortious interference, breach of
contract, unfair competition and antitrust); personal injury; and environmental contamination cases.
Dan currently handles a variety of litigation matters, in various areas of the law. This includes obtaining a jury verdict
in a Cook County personal injury case in early 2009 that exceeded $346,000.00 against a south suburban sports bar. The
jury verdict in that Dram Shop Act case was upheld by the Illinois Appellate Court in a ruling issued in January, 2010.
In 2008, Dan obtained a $280,000.00 settlement in a personal injury case on behalf of a man injured when his car was
struck by a semi-truck in suburban Elgin, and Dan also won a substantial jury verdict on behalf of a patron injured in a
Chicago-area casino when he fell on a wet floor where no warning was provided to customers. Earlier in 2008, Dan was
part of the trial team that obtained a jury verdict in excess of $4,700,000.00 for a woman who lost both her legs as a result
of medical negligence after an abdominal surgery.
Dan’s past successes as a trial attorney also include being an integral member of the legal team that won a multi-million
dollar jury verdict in federal court in an unfair competition case. The commercial matter was on behalf of a local family-
owned business and involved: dumpster diving, bribery, and other acts of unfair competition by its main competitor.
The settlement following the multi-million dollar jury verdict was finalized in summer 2006.
Dan also has substantial experience with environmental cases, having administered the $8,360,000.00 settlement of an
environmental contamination class action case in which he helped represent Ohio families with TCE contaminated
groundwater. Further, Dan was involved in a groundwater contamination case related to an Illinois landfill, that settled
in 2009 for $5,500,000. Dan also currently represents families in suburban Tinley Park who experienced serious basement
flooding that is most likely the result of the actions of a developer and several adjacent landowners who redirected
stormwater causing the catastrophic flooding in suburban Cook County.
Beyond the litigation matters Dan handles, he routinely counsels business organizations, both for profit and not for
profit, on various complex corporate law issues. These clients include national and international professional societies,
large public corporations, as well as small family businesses.
Dan graduated from the University of Illinois in 1999 with a B.S. in finance. After serving as controller of a mid-sized
Chicago food producer, Dan received his J.D., Cum Laude, from DePaul University’s College of Law in Chicago, Illinois.
Additionally, Dan holds an M.B.A., with distinction, from DePaul University’s Kellstadt School of Business. Dan joined
the Firm in 2003, is licensed to practice in Illinois, and is admitted as a member of the federal trial bar for the Northern
District of Illinois. Dan is also a member of the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association as well as the Illinois State Bar
Association.
In addition to representing clients, Dan is also a certified arbitrator for the Cook County and DuPage County Mandatory
Arbitration Programs, and routinely acts in this capacity helping to resolve a variety of matters in both counties.
