Roundup, the brand name of a weedkiller produced by Monsanto/Bayer, is the most widely used herbicide globally. Hundreds of millions of pounds of this chemical are applied annually in both commercial and residential settings. Bayer acquired Monsanto in 2018 and now owns the Roundup brand.
In 2015, the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) classified glyphosate, the main ingredient in Roundup, as "probably carcinogenic in humans" based on extensive research including human, animal, and in vitro studies. This classification stemmed from studies linking glyphosate exposure to a higher risk of non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, a cancer affecting the lymphatic system.
Studies have consistently shown an elevated risk of non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma and other cancers in individuals with prolonged exposure to Roundup. As a result, many diagnosed individuals have come forward, alleging that the chemical caused their cancer, resulting in settlements totaling billions of dollars.
The groups most vulnerable to glyphosate exposure include children, landscapers, farm workers, garden center and nursery employees, and groundskeepers. However, many individuals who have used Roundup in their home gardens have also successfully pursued claims.
If you meet any of the following criteria, you may be eligible to file a Roundup lawsuit:

Since 2018, thousands of lawsuits have been filed against Monsanto/Bayer, the current manufacturer of Roundup. The lawsuits allege that the plaintiffs' cancer was caused by their exposure to Roundup.
A 2018 landmark trial awarded $289 million to a groundskeeper who was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. That verdict was followed up in 2019, by a $2 billion verdict in California where the jury decided in favor of a couple who claimed Roundup caused their non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. In that same year, a California man was awarded $80 million in a trial verdict.
One of the most significant outcomes was a $10 billion settlement in 2020, which Bayer paid to settle tens of thousands of claims that Roundup caused cancer. Three years later, juries continue to award plaintiffs in additional cases billions of dollars in damages, even as Bayer insists it will continue its fight in court.
Roundup litigation is ongoing, and The Collins Law Firm is continuing to take on clients seeking justice.
Recently, multiple jury verdicts have come back in favor of parties injured by Roundup.
It’s important to keep in mind that the value of each case is dependent on its unique facts. The size of the above verdicts is not necessarily indicative of the value of any case you may have.

Our record-setting $363 million verdict in Kamuda v. Sterigenics U.S. LLC, et al., stands as the LARGEST single plaintiff verdict ever recorded in Illinois. This landmark achievement was honored by Top Verdict as 2022’s:
In 2023, our environmental attorneys helped negotiate a $408 million dollar settlement in a toxic tort case in Illinois. As a co-lead of the Plaintiffs Executive Committee in the In re Willowbrook Ethylene Oxide Litigation, Collins Law partner Shawn Collins was instrumental in securing this 9-figure settlement for more than 870 plaintiffs who had contracted cancer after breathing carcinogenic ethylene oxide from a Sterigenics facility in their community.
The Collins Law Firm’s experience in the Ethylene Oxide Litigation is important because, just as in the cases against Monsanto/Bayer, the heart of the Ethylene Oxide Litigation cases was proving that human exposure to a dangerous chemical can cause cancer and even death. The litigation—just like the cases against Monsanto/Bayer--also spotlighted the corporate misconduct that led to people being exposed to dangerous chemicals in the first place. Our experience in the Ethylene Oxide Litigation--building the cases, formulating legal strategies, working with environmental experts, and successfully trying the Kamuda case in front of a jury--has prepared us to effectively litigate your claim against Monsanto/Bayer. Unlike some of the law firms collecting Roundup cases, we are successful, experienced, environmental attorneys who have been litigating and winning environmental cases for over 20 years.
After receiving a cancer diagnosis, there is a limited period of time, called a statute of limitations, for filing a Roundup lawsuit, which varies depending on the state. Our team can provide guidance on how this deadline applies to your situation. It is crucial to act promptly and file your claim before time runs out. Take the first step by requesting a FREE case review with one of our experienced environmental contamination lawyers. Call us at (630) 527-1595 or fill out our contact form today.
