The Collins Law Firm Selected as Finalist for Elite Trial Lawyers Award

Naperville, IL (July 12, 2023) – The Collins Law Firm is proud to announce that it has been named a finalist for The National Law Journal and ALM/Law.com's 2023 Elite Trial Lawyers Awards. The firm is a finalist in the mass torts category--a category for law firms that litigate mass injury cases throughout the country. ALM's Elite Trial Lawyers recognizes U.S. law firms that have performed exemplary and innovative work for plaintiffs. The awards aim to honor the best in the profession, including the firms and attorneys who are taking the legal industry to the next level.

Finalists have scored at least one significant plaintiffs win between January 1, 2022, and January 1, 2023, and possess an impressive track record of wins within the past three to five years. A "significant win" means prevailing in a trial or a major settlement with high stakes. For example, a substantial amount of money is involved, or the outcome could affect the results of similar cases nationally. In addition, the firm must devote at least 50% of its litigation resources to plaintiffs' work.

The Collins Law Firm is a finalist because of its leadership role in hundreds of Willowbrook, IL cancer cases against Sterigenics and its more than two decades of fighting for the environmental rights of thousands of Americans.

Elite Trial Lawyers also considers the following criteria for selection:

• The firm's performance in significant cases, including key rulings, victories at trial, and settlements
• The verdict dollar amount, size of punitive damages penalties, and cash settlements.
• The complexity of procedure and substantive law involved in the case or cases.
• The firm's willingness to take on significant cases and to persevere in the face of adversity.
• The impact of the firm's litigation – Does the litigation result change a governmental or business practice?

Out of hundreds of submissions, only a small percentage are selected as finalists for the Elite Trial Lawyers Awards.
